Clustercorp to Showcase New Products at SC08, including Rocks+ 5.1

San Jose, CA, November 13th, 2008 - Clustercorp, the leader in commercial software and support for Rocks®, will launch Rocks+ 5.1 at Supercomputing 2008, which adds the ability to build complete virtual clusters and an exciting new list of Rolls, including the Mellanox OFED Roll, the NVIDIA CUDA Roll, and more (see http://www.clustercorp.com/rolls for details).

Visit Clustercorp at Supercomputing 2008 in Booth 215 to interact with the developers of both Open Source Rocks and Rocks+. Clustercorp will feature developers and partners in “Grill the Guru” sessions held at the top of every hour. Sessions include Grill the “Rocks” Guru (Rocks Developers), Grill the “Compilers” Guru (The Portland Group), Grill the “GPGPU” Guru (NVIDIA), and more (see http://www.clustercorp.com/sc08 for scheduling). Additionally, join the Intel® Cluster Ready Tour, which will visit Clustercorp, as well as a number of hardware partners running Intel Cluster Ready solutions with Rocks+.

Rocks+ will be featured on demos including Dell’s Visualization Wall (running Rocks+Viz), Supermicro’s Intel Cluster Ready SuperBlade®, Silicon Mechanics’ Hyperform Cluster (running Rocks+MOAB) and more.

Rocks+ is the commercial version of the widely used Rocks Cluster Distribution – an end-to-end HPC software solution, which includes the operating system, cluster management middleware, libraries, and compilers; all with enterprise class commercial support from Clustercorp. Every Roll in the stack has been updated for Rocks+ 5.1, including a new version of the PGI® Roll based on PGI 7.2-5.

"Once used predominantly by scientists and engineers, both Rocks and PGI® compilers are now being embraced by a wider market, making accessibility increasingly important," said Douglas Miles, director, The Portland Group. "The PGI Roll for Rocks greatly simplifies the installation and upgrading of PGI optimizing compilers and tools on Rocks clusters, which fits perfectly with our commitment to support the HPC community in a comprehensive way."

Rocks+ is available to end-users direct from Clustercorp and through multiple channels, including Tier 1 HPC hardware partners (see http://www.clustercorp.com/hardware for details) and distributors. Rocks+ is also available to VARs and System Integrators through Tech Data Corporation’s Advanced Infrastructure Solutions Division (see below for procurement details).

"We are delighted to see Clustercorp’s Roll releases continue to closely track new releases of Rocks," said Philip Papadopoulos, PhD, head of the Rocks project at the University of California, San Diego. "Clustercorp founders are not only regular contributors to the open-source Rocks community, but their expanding collection of commercial software rolls clearly illustrates an excellent understanding of customers who need to mix both open source and commercial software to build robust solutions."

“Clustercorp is excited to deliver Rocks+ 5.1 to the ever expanding Rocks community,” said Tim McIntire, President and Cofounder of Clustercorp. “The launch is a culmination of efforts from the Rocks Cluster Group, Clustercorp, and our commercial partners; whose backing of Rocks is critical to the development of a complete HPC stack. We look forward to continuing our mission to make great HPC solutions accessible to the masses.”
